SUMMARY

The TransMigrARTS project investigates how the arts can positively transform the lives of vulnerable migrants. In 2024, a prototype theater workshop was implemented in Medellín
with two distinct groups: one made up of participants who were migrants, among whom many were artists and students with previous experience in the arts, and the other made up of a majority of migrants and displaced persons with little or no artistic training. The study analyzes how group dynamics vary according to the composition, physical space and temporality of the workshop, highlighting the importance of adapting the methodology to the characteristics and needs of each group. The results show that art can generate safe and creative spaces, facilitating participation, resilience and the collective construction of meaning, although the success of the process may depend on the flexibility and contextual sensitivity of the workshop leader.
