The University of Toulouse II – Jean Jaurès, the only French mainland university to have been entirely rebuilt, is now one of the best French universities for arts, letters and languages and human and social sciences and offers its users a living, working and studying
environment on a 230 000-m² campus. It has several outlying facilities in the Occitania region and is a member of many international networks.
It has more than 30 000 students, 5 Training and Research Units, 7 institutes, 2 internal schools and an online teaching service. As for research it has 23 research units of which 9 are mixed with other supervisory bodies: 80% of these laboratories are considered excellent by the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education. It also manages 4 federated structures, including one on the Arts, 1 Laboratory of Excellence and has about 700 lecturer-researchers or researchers, more than 800 doctoral students per annum and more than 130 research support staff.
The University Jean Jaurès is part of the University of Toulouse research cluster that comprises 23 higher education establishments, 1 university teaching hospital and 7 research bodies. A Europe cell dedicated to the whole community has been set up for setting up European projects.
