Bataclown is an artistic clown-theatre structure created in 1980 in the Toulouse region. It has developed in three ways:
- as a clown-theatre company: creating and producing shows and interventions in professional meetings, congresses, symposia, seminars… using the name “Les clownanalystes du Bataclown”
- as a training body: it has a short course training programme in clown-theatre (about 35 per annum) and in-company training contracts (in other companies or associations)
- as a research body: creating the Centre de Recherche sur le Clown Contemporain (CRCC)
The Compagnie “Les clownanalystes du Bataclown” brings together 10 contract-employed actor-clowns and a production manager. The Bataclown training arm employs 14 clown-theatre trainers plus 9 partners from other artistic disciplines and an executive secretary. Their La Robin training centre created in 1982 has training rooms for their short courses and rehearsal rooms for their company. It is also their head office. The Clownanalystes du Bataclown office at Balma has direct access to a physical and artistic activity room that will be used for the TransMigrArts workshops.
